Acquisitions Incorporated
Hey folks - blah blah blah apology blah blah not writing enough blah etc.
I am proud to report that despite its sudden appearance in my quickly-accelerating life (seriously, it still seems like Christmas was 6 weeks ago and now summer is almost over oh what is happening help me), My Birthday was a smashing success. We also made a fairly large non-birthday-related purchase that will either interest you or fill your every pore with seething jealousy. Yes, I gloat.
Highlight reel of July/August is as follows, with a surprise at the end if you’re good and read the whole post (and don’t try any funny business — It’ll disappear if you just skip to the end — don’t call my bluff don’t call my bluff don’t call my bluff)
My big present from Shannon was … dun dun dunnnn … Rock Band! She already mentioned it last post, but whatever. After some minor syncing issues (dang drums still lag a bit in the fills), Rabid Savage (featuring Lilliput Saturn on guitars and Ramrod Sterling on drums) embarked on their quest to be the world’s greatest cover band. It’s fun. We play it a lot.
Another birthday present: the Edge Brownie Pan. I whipped up some Edge Brownies last night, and am happy to report that they are just as more awesome than normal brownies as I could ever hope. Look for an Edge Brownie / Rock Band party soon, after we unlock some more songs, so people don’t ever ever ever have to play that OK Go song from the JC Penney ad.
You might wonder how Rock Band is any fun at all on our 27” Toshiba CRT that we have had since our marriage commenced. Well, it doesn’t, because we bought a new television - a 46” Samsung 1080p HDTV that just barely fails to completely dwarf our living room. We christened it with a Blu-Ray of Sunshine, and I could swear I felt a tear run down my cheek, and as it crested my cheekbone, that tear felt a single tear run down its tiny, aqueous cheek.
On the subject of Blu-Rays, it was only $100 more to buy a PS3 bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4 rather than a Blu-Ray player bundled with the guilt of not buying a PS3, so we went with the former. MGS4 is better than I could have thought possible, and were this a video game blog, I’d expand on that, but I’ll spare you. (On that note, if I could have any job, it’d be professional video game journalist. I don’t know if I’ve told you that before. I’d do it in a heartbeat.)
Okay, that’s enough of an overview of our life. I could wax on about dinner at F. Scott’s or playing PixelJunk Eden or how we are totally loving Mad Men, but I’ll spare you.
Yay! You made it to the end. Here’s your reward!
Coming sometime in September hopefully …

Did you ever get our package in the mail?

YES! I did. I have to write you thank-yous or something. The aforementioned edge brownies were the ones from said package. Yum.

Congrats and Happy Birthday! Rock Band has always looked like great fun, but I never ended up making the purchase. My birthday is on Saturday and I was totally looking forward to some SOUL CALIBUR 4 action, but my 360 red ringed and now has to be sent out for repairs (after I get the new one it’ll be my 5th console!). What a crappy time too, Bionic Commando just came out on Live Arcade, and Castle Crashers is out in two weeks. Also congrats on the PS3, you totally went from no gaming to a ton of gaming all at once. That’ll be my next purchase, since the blu-ray is calling me.
